Triumph T160 Neutral Gear Switch Conversion

The purpose of this kit is to replace the contact switch of the neutral gear green indicator

with an inductive proximity sensor.

Thus any physical contact between the gear selector neutral lobe and the switch is eliminated.

Many T160 owners have experienced difficulty in selecting neutral, and one of other reasons for this issue is sometimes the neutral switch not sliding properly on the selector lobe.

This kit contains:

• One inductive proximity sensor flush NPN IP68 3 wire with 90 deg plug and 2 meters cable. The sensor has a modified tip in order to slide and seal on the adaptor’s o’ring.
• One suitable adaptor that replaces the original 57-5086. Inside it contains an o’ring for sealing the sensor.
• One copper washer.  
• Nut and washer for securing the sensor (M8X1).
• Special tool for the adaptor.
• Relay with mounting base and suitable connectors.

The sensor’s signal is not suitable to power the indicator so this is done via a relay.

We have found that screw-in on the gearbox cover the new adaptor is not an easy job thus why the kit is supplied with a special socked tool to make the installation as easy as possible.
